Andrew Wiggins was a first-time All-Star this season, after showing that he could be a fantastic two-way wing with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors generally task Wiggins with guarding the best perimeter player on the opposing team, while also providing supplementary scoring. Currently, Andrew Wiggins is putting up 17.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.2 APG.
There is no doubt that Andrew Wiggins has struggled after the All-Star break, and as a result, he has gotten a lot of hate from both analysts and fans alike. Wiggins has recently opened up on the hate he’s gotten, claiming that “there’s bigger things to worry about”. Monte Poole of NBC Sports relayed the news.
“There’s games (when) I’ve been aggressive, but sometimes shots aren’t falling,” Wiggins said. “That’s part of the game. It happens. I’ve just got to keep my head, keep pushing forward and stay confident.”
After being recognized for his two-way abilities in the first half of the season, Wiggins is now an easy target for analysts and frustrated fans venting on social media.
“They’re going to love you, then they’re going to hate you,” he said. “Then they’re going to love you again. And they’ll probably hate you again. That’s how it goes.
“You’ve got to wake up every morning just happy to be alive. There’s bigger things to worry about.”
Coach Steve Kerr has previously expressed his belief in the star forward, claiming that Wiggins would “find his game again”. The Warriors will need Andrew Wiggins to be the player that they’ve seen before the All-Star break offensively if they are to get far in the playoffs this year.
Hopefully, Andrew Wiggins is able to bounce back from his struggles prior to the start of the postseason. There is no doubt that he’s a very good player in terms of helping the team on both ends, and perhaps we’ll see him find his offensive groove soon.
