With so many great players having played in the NBA over the years, picking the best to ever do it in all of the positions is a difficult task. There are so many options to choose from and Shaquille O’Neal took to Instagram recently to share a graphic depicting the best player by position. There were some interesting selections in it, to say the least.

Shaquille O'Neal

We start off at the point guard slot, with Stephen Curry getting the nod. Curry has won four titles, a Finals MVP, two MVPs, and two scoring titles in his illustrious career. He has revolutionized the game and is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever at his position. Is he the best, though? Well, that’s debatable.

While Curry has achieved a lot in his time in the NBA, his resume still isn’t considered quite as impressive as that of Magic Johnson. Johnson won five titles, three Finals MVPs, three MVPs, and four assists titles during his time in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. You have to give Magic the edge over Curry at this point, but the latter still has time to add to his resume.

Michael Jordan comes in at the shooting guard spot and this was probably the least controversial pick. While someone like Kobe Bryant accomplished incredible feats in the NBA, neither he nor anyone else in that position did as much as Jordan. The Chicago Bulls icon won six titles, six Finals MVPs, five MVPs, a DPOY, and 10 scoring titles in his career, and there really isn’t an argument for him not to be on here.

There can’t really be any arguments against LeBron James getting the nod at small forward either. James has won four titles, four Finals MVPs, four MVPs, a scoring title, and an assists title in his career. He is also the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and has gas left in the tank to add to his resume.

Tim Duncan is another fairly obvious selection when it comes to the power forward spot. Duncan won five titles, three Finals MVPs, and two MVPs during his time with the San Antonio Spurs, and is widely regarded as the best ever at his position.

Lastly, we get to the center position and this one is easily the hardest to pick. O’Neal was the one who got the nod here and he won four titles, three Finals MVPs, an MVP, and two scoring titles in the NBA. That’s an incredible resume but some of the other contenders for that spot might have better ones.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won six MVPs to go with six titles while Bill Russell racked up 11 titles and five MVPs. Wilt Chamberlain is also in the mix and Nikola Jokic would be as well if he manages to win another title or two. If you had to pick one from this group, it’d probably be Abdul-Jabbar but O’Neal isn’t a bad selection by any means.

Shaquille O’Neal Shared List Of Youngest All-Stars

Not long after sending out that story, O’Neal put out another in which he shared a list of the youngest All-Stars in NBA history.

Shaquille O'Neal

You’d have thought that James would be the youngest but it is Bryant who occupies the top spot. He is the only one to make the All-Star team at the age of 19 and it’s unlikely anyone else is going to achieve that feat for a very long time.

Bryant was able to get in because only fan votes determined who made it in and his popularity was through the roof at that point. That won’t be enough now, though, with player and media voting accounting for 50%.
