De’Aaron Fox‘s wife, Reece Caldwell, took to X to respond to an aggrieved Sacramento Kings fan who claimed that Fox was ungrateful for claiming that the franchise didn’t support him when they gave his wife and family free court-side tickets. She rubbished those claims, pointing out that she and her family paid full price for those tickets every time they attended a game.

Fan: “F**k this guy, your wife was courtside for every game in Sacramento, but yes, the Kings aren’t accommodating to a player that isn’t a superstar.”

Reece Caldwell: “This take is comical. Do y’all think we got those tickets for free? We paid full price for those.”

The fan was responding to De’Aaron Fox claiming that the Kings were not supporting him as a franchise. When comparing the difference between the Kings and the San Antonio Spurs, he noted how jarring it was to see an organization be so accommodating and willing to work with members at any and all levels.

“We can go through a whole list of things. But, I would say how family-oriented it is. You hear this from the outside. But it’s just very accommodating to the players, the staff, and whoever else is in the organization. I think that’s probably the biggest thing.

Clearly, these comments have not gone down well with the Kings fanbase. And to a degree, it is understandable. The franchise did a lot to try and make Fox feel welcome, including trading away Tyrese Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers, who has gone on to become an All-Star in the years since the trade.

It appears that Fox may have been frustrated beyond the oft-stated reasons with his time in Sacramento. And those tensions are now coming to the forefront.

Fox Must Wait Till Next Season To Compete

De’Aaron Fox reportedly left the Sacramento Kings to compete for an NBA championship. This is why he refused to sign an extension with them, as he felt the franchise was not in a position to compete for a title in the near future. The opportunity to play alongside recent All-Star and monster prospect Victor Wembanyama seemed promising to him.

However, Wembanyama has recently been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, which occurs when multiple blood clots form in multiple veins of the body. This serious medical development means that Wemby has been ruled out for the rest of the NBA season. The Spurs hope that he can return to full health and fitness come time for the start of the 2025-26 NBA season.

This means that any hopes for Fox and the Spurs to make a playoff push in their remaining fixtures are now dashed. The Spurs currently sit 12th in the Western Conference with a 24-29 record. With Wemby unavailable, their chances of making the playoffs are very low.

Fox has also been rumored to be putting off getting surgery on an injury so that they can make a playoff push this year. Perhaps now he will take time off so that he can take care of his own health with the Spurs realistically unlikely to make the playoffs.
