LeBron James On Anthony Davis Potentially Returning Soon: “I Miss The Big Fella. But I Can’t Be Focused On That Right Now.”

The Los Angeles Lakers look completely different from the team that won the NBA championship less than 2 years ago. What was once one of the best defensive teams in the league with 2 elite superstars playing at a high level has now become a poorly performing team that could conceivably miss the NBA playoffs altogether. And a big reason for their disappointing form has been Anthony Davis and his injury concerns.

LeBron James spoke after the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss against the Phoenix Suns. James was asked about Davis possibly returning soon. James tried to downplay any excitement, noting that he and the team will work on that when it happens but did note that he does miss Anthony Davis and what he brought to the court (1:25 mark).

"To sit alone in a statistical category in this league…I get at a loss for words anytime these things happen." LeBron James talks about becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 10K+ points, assists, and rebounds. @LakersReporter pic.twitter.com/MyBLUNhuNA

“It’s more of ‘when you get there, you get there’. And obviously, his health is what’s most important, not just for him but for our franchise. At the end of the day, my focus is solely on each day, each game… Trying to stay in the hunt of the play-in or whatever the case may be. I miss the guy, I miss the big fella out there. But I can’t be focused on that right now. Seeing him not in a boot is definitely a plus for sure.”

LeBron made history last night, becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 30K points, 10K rebounds, and 10K assists. After the game, he noted how surreal it was to reach that mark, especially as he is the only player in the history of the league to have done so.

Anthony Davis has been in and out of the squad for most of the season, struggling with multiple injuries that have kept him off the court. Davis has looked decent when he is playing, but he hasn’t been available to the Lakers all that much. But all that could be on the verge of changing, as Davis is projected to return soon.
