The Brooklyn Nets had an amazing start to the 2021-22 NBA season. But they trailed off in the middle of the season for various reasons. Well, it seems like the Nets are back on track and the credit for it goes to none other than Kevin Durant.
When Durant was sidelined due to an injury, the Nets lost several games and dropped to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. While the team is still at the same spot, they are on a 3-game winning streak with their most recent victory coming against the New York Knicks.
The fixture was incredibly close as the game finished 110-107 in favor of the Nets. It was a Kevin Durant show as the Slim Reaper ended the game with 53 points to his name. Apart from that KD also added 6 rebounds and 9 assists to steer the Nets to victory.
Moreover, Durant truly dominated the Knicks in the absence of Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons. If Irving and Simmons were present on the floor, the game probably wouldn’t finish as close as it did.
Coming back to KD’s performance, his teammate Andre Drummond was in awe of it. Drummond had a one-sentence appreciation for the former MVP.
“He’s the best player in the world.”

Keeping Durant’s current form in mind, most fans will agree to this statement from Drummond. However, there are still several who believe that players like LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Stephen Curry are better than Durant.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to which player can lead their team to the 2022 NBA Championship. After all, if they fail to achieve that goal, their efforts throughout the season will be wasted.
Can Durant lead the Nets to a ring? Well, we will find out in the near future.
