The 2024 Paris Olympics saw Team USA win a crucial fifth consecutive Gold medal in men’s basketball after many started discussing the end of American dominance in international basketball. The NBA’s biggest stars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry decided to prove them wrong at the Olympics.
Curry is widely credited as the man who ensured the USA won the Gold with his performances in the semi-final and the Gold medal game. USA head coach Steve Kerr, who has also coached Curry for a decade in the NBA, got emotional after the USA secured the Gold, thanking Curry as seen in Netflix ‘Court of Gold.’
“Oh my god, am I so f*cking lucky to be a part of your life. Holy sh*t, you’re amazing! You’re one of the finest human beings I’ve ever met in my life, I mean that in every way.”

Steve Kerr has won four NBA Championships with Curry as his primary guard. The coach-player duo will likely be linked forever as Steph is expected to retire on the Golden State Warriors with no threat to Kerr’s job security at the moment.
This was Kerr’s first head coaching job, and it proved to be the perfect fit with a guard like Curry at the helm.
Curry made four out of eight three-point attempts in the Final, with his final shot being called the ‘Golden Dagger,’ as it sealed the 98-87 win for Team USA. It also led to arguably the most iconic use of Curry’s ‘Night Night’ celebration, as he did it in front of a packed French crowd who hoped to watch history by upsetting Team USA.
Steve Kerr Thinks Curry’s ‘Golden Dagger’ Is One Of The Greatest Moments In Basketball History
Curry’s performance in the Gold medal game will be discussed for generations to come, as it might have been the final global moment for an entire generation of NBA fans. The likelihood that all three of Curry, Durant, and LeBron play in another Olympics is asinine, so this 2024 run was it for the three faces of this generation.
LeBron won the Olympic MVP, but Curry got the greatest moment with his performance in the final. Coach Kerr placed it among the greatest moments in basketball history while Curry himself knows how special it was.
Steph Curry: “The shot, it was a difficult shot, so it was really cool. When I saw Melo and his reaction and the whole world, how crazy they went. That’s when I realized how special a moment that was. It was a dream come true, some storybook-type stuff to have it end that way. I’ll take it, it’s very special.”
Steve Kerr: “[Steph’s ‘night night’ dagger three vs. France] was one of the greatest moments in basketball history.”
Steph Curry: “You just have a feeling when you know it’s over and it’s time to put the kids to sleep.”

Curry’s 24 points in the Gold medal game came right off the back of a similar offensive explosion against Serbia in the semi-final to book their spot in the Gold medal game. The point guard had a poor tournament until these two games and the national team needed him to do exactly what we saw.
