Kevin Durant crossed paths with Culture Kicks’ Chase Young recently and was asked if he’d be willing to bet on a coin flip. Young wanted Durant’s shoes, worth about $1,500 to $2,000, off his feet if he won and offered to pay $3,000 if he lost. The Phoenix Suns star agreed to those terms and ended up winning after correctly calling tails.

That was some Michael Jordan-like aura on display. Durant was grinning from ear to ear after winning, and you struggle to remember the last time he looked that happy. It would have been quite hilarious if the 15-time All-Star had to give up his shoes there but fortunately for him, it didn’t come to that.

This wasn’t the only contest that Durant won during All-Star Weekend. The 36-year-old was representing Shaq’s OG’s in the All-Star mini-tournament and they went on to win it. Each player on the winning team got $125,000, so Durant made a decent amount of money over the weekend.

Durant wasn’t smiling after the festivities ended, though. He wasn’t happy at all about the negative reaction from fans and the media regarding the All-Star Game. Durant suggested that All-Star weekend should be canceled because of how miserable everyone is during this time.

It sure does seem like people can’t wait to complain when we get to this time of the year. The complaints this time were more about everything that surrounded the game, though, and less about the action itself. There were one too many stoppages and the NBA needs to avoid that next year.

Michael Jordan Wanted To Flip A Coin For $100K With Street Dude

On the topic of flipping coins, Jamal Crawford once shared an interesting Michael Jordan story. Crawford revealed Jordan wanted to flip a coin for $100,000 with a “street” dude.

“We were all hanging out afterward when one street dude came up there with a bag of $100,000. ‘MJ, let’s gamble.’ MJ looked at him, ‘I ain’t got a lot of time. Flip a coin for it, heads or tails?…’ The dude looked at that money like you could tell he had all the hood’s money. He was like, ‘Man, I can’t do this. I have no flip.’ He looked, ‘I’m good,’ and left.”

Compared to the contest between Durant and Young, the stakes were certainly a lot higher here. You can’t blame that individual for backing out, as betting that much money on a coin flip would be crazy unless you’re stinking rich like Jordan was/is.

Jordan was used to gambling big amounts as well. He once lost $500,000 but stayed up all night and ended up winning $600,000. Talk about crazy determination.
