Legendary head coach Phil Jackson is someone who has racked up a lot of NBA rings during his career as a player and a coach as well. To be precise, Jackson won 2 rings as a player and 11 as a coach, taking his total to 13 NBA Championships.
Moreover, he has coached the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Scottie Pippen, and many more amazing players throughout his career. So if Phil had a theory there was a lot of effort and research put into it.
One of his most popular theories is the championship team theory. The theory states that a team that can reach 40 wins before losing 20 games in a season is legitimately a title contender.
Over the years, most NBA teams that have won the championship have fit in it, apart from some exceptions. Well, this season, the Phoenix Suns have become the first team in the NBA to attain these figures.
After the Suns’ amazing victory against the San Antonio Spurs in their most recent fixture, the Chris Paul and Devin Booker duo has helped the team improve their record to 40-9. Evidently, they not only have the best record in the Western Conference but in the entire league.
The way they are currently playing, it seems like they will be the team to defeat come this postseason. After all, they also made it to the NBA Finals last season. Unfortunately, they failed to finish the job in the finals and came runner-up behind the Milwaukee Bucks.
This time around, the Suns will hope to take revenge and finally win an NBA Championship. While they might be the best team in the league right now, it will not be an easy task to lift the NBA trophy after the dust settles.
But for the sake of CP3’s legacy, fans will hope that he can win a championship before retiring from the league. Paul missed out on a chance to pair up with Kobe Bryant back in 2011 and it unarguably cost him at least one ring.
Hopefully, this time around with his superstar duo being complete, he can win a championship.
