The Lakers Reportedly Offered Two Second-Round Picks For Cam Reddish

Cam Reddish is now the newest member of the New York Knicks. The Knicks traded Kevin Knox II Reddish and a protected 2022 first-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill, and a 2025 second-round pick. The Knicks effectively reunited former Duke teammates, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish.

Bill Simmons made fun of the Hawks for taking what he considered a lopsided deal. But the Atlanta Hawks had another offer, from another major big-market team. First reported by The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers offered two second-round draft picks to the Hawks in order to secure Cam Reddish. But the Hawks chose to take the offer from the Knicks because they felt they got a better package in return.

The Lakers have been mentioned as a team to watch prior to the trade deadline. Given the way, their roster, as presently constructed, is performing very poorly. And they will want to make adjustments to their roster in order to get back on track and get back to their championship aspirations going forward.

One player whose name has been mentioned the most among fans as a trade prospect is Russell Westbrook. Most Lakers fans will be upset with the way he has been performing and the fact that he has cost them a lot of games. But it isn’t just as simple as trading Westbrook away from the team.

Westbrook has, what many consider, one of the worst contracts in the NBA right now. This is a big reason why he has bounced around to so many different teams over the last 4 years. On top of that, with the way that he is currently playing, no team would be in their right mind to trade away important assets for him.

But that isn’t to say that Westbrook can’t be traded. After all, he has been traded thrice in the last three years. And if presented a decent enough opportunity, any team in the NBA might pounce on the opportunity. The Lakers will be a team to keep an eye on going forward.
