Ja Morant is one of the best point guards in the league. Despite the fact that the Memphis Grizzlies have performed pretty well this season, most people didn’t have them as contenders until now.

The Memphis Grizzlies have recently defeated the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors in consecutive games. It seems as though now the world has finally taken notice.

Stephen A. Smith has recently apologized to the Memphis Grizzlies, claiming that he has “slept on those brothers”. He stated that he knew Ja Morant was good but added that he loves the Grizzlies’ “size, athleticism, depth, and perimeter shooting”. He finished off his apology by saying that the Grizzlies are “a legitimate threat” in the Western Conference.

My apologies to the Memphis Grizzlies. I have slept on these brothers. I know Ja Morant is special, but I love their size, athleticism, depth and perimeter shooting. This team is a legitimate threat in the West. They have my attention.

Regular-season performances don’t always translate to the playoffs, and we’ve seen plenty of good regular-season teams get exposed for their weaknesses in the postseason. However, the Memphis Grizzlies do have a top-tier point guard with a versatile game in Ja Morant, and he is someone who is bound to show up every night come postseason.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 10 in a row, and they will certainly be a hard team to beat for the rest of the season. Ja Morant looks like he is becoming a superstar before our eyes, and perhaps one day he can be the next superstar to bring a small-market team a championship. He has the talent to do so, and while obviously a lot of that depends on how his roster will be constructed by the team going forward, there’s no doubt that Ja Morant is a good enough player to be the No. 1 on a championship team.
