Ja Morant has had a spectacular season thus far, and he is currently averaging 24.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 6.6 APG. There is no doubt that he has had an All-Star caliber season, and looks like he could even reach greater heights and become a bonafide superstar.

ESPN Analyst Kendrick Perkins has recently lauded Ja Morant, and claimed that he could potentially be the next Giannis Antetokounmpo, and bring the small-market Memphis Grizzlies a championship.

.@KendrickPerkins says Ja Morant is the next superstar to bring a title to a small market 😱

People keep saying rising superstar, I think he’s already at that level. In my opinion, I’m looking at Ja Morant, and he’s going to be in my opinion the “next Giannis” of the NBA.

I’m not just talking about individual accolades. But when I look at this young leader, this young killer. If I had to bet all the money in the world, he will be the next superstar to lead a franchise, a small-market franchise to winning a championship. All the other players to do that over the last 10 years are: LeBron James, yeah in Cleveland. But Giannis, and then it’s gonna be Ja Morant. That’s how special of a talent he is.

There is no doubt that the Memphis Grizzlies have performed remarkably well under Ja Morant’s leadership this year. They are currently 4th in the Western Conference, which is a huge improvement from last season. The Grizzlies have also managed to beat some strong Western Conference teams such as the Utah Jazz and the Golden State Warriors to reach their current position. It is obvious that the Memphis Grizzlies have become “must-see TV” due to their stellar young core with Ja Morant as the head of the snake.

It’s obviously too early to tell if Ja Morant will indeed lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a championship. Things change quickly in the NBA, but as of this season, his play suggests that it may be a viable possibility in the future.
