Luka Doncic is the current face of the Dallas Mavericks franchise. There is no question that he is currently playing at a superstar level for the team on an individual level. Doncic is currently putting up 24.9 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 8.8 APG for the Mavericks. He is widely viewed as a potential future great.

However, despite Luka Doncic’s talents, he has not yet managed to win a playoff series thus far in his young career. Team success is important in how a player is perceived by the public. However, Luka Doncic still has plenty of time to win playoff games, and potentially championships.

Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has recently gotten his jersey retired by the Dallas Mavericks. Luka Doncic made a statement on the ceremony and the 2011 championship clips that were played while it was going on, and claimed that those are things that he wants “to do one day”.

Luka on watching Dirk’s jersey retirement and clips of the Mavs’ 2011 championship: “That’s what I want to do one day.”

Having the dream of winning a championship and getting one’s jersey retired is something that Luka Doncic shares with a lot of other players. There is definitely a chance that Luka Doncic could become an all-time great with the Dallas Mavericks. While the postseason success isn’t quite there, he is still a multiple-time All-Star that is clearly capable of being an offensive engine for a team. Perhaps as his team gels, and as the Dallas Mavericks make moves to help him, the success will come.

Dirk Nowitzki once claimed that Luka Doncic was better at 22 than Nowitzki himself was in his prime, so it’s obvious that there’s a lot of hope put on him by the organization and people related to it. Hopefully, Luka Doncic is able to deliver, and his talent certainly suggests that will be the case.
