NBA Rumors: Jerami Grant And Dennis Schroder “Most Likely” To Be Traded Before Deadline

There is no doubt that there is always trade talk in the NBA, and there has been a lot of player movement in the last few years. We’ve often seen teams make moves midseason either to acquire assets or to improve their roster ahead of the playoffs.

NBA Insider Marc Stein has recently reported that there are two players that are “most likely” to be traded before the trade deadline. Those players are Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant and Boston Celtics point guard Dennis Schroder.

With Detroit on a 13-game losing streak and quickly slumping to a 12-70 pace, Jerami Grant is increasingly regarded by rival teams as one of the NBA’s most likely players to be traded before the Feb. 10 trade deadline.

Also climbing on Most Likely To Be Traded lists leaguewide: Boston’s Dennis Schröder. The Celtics do not want to break up their Jayson Tatum/Jaylen Brown duo, no matter how much skepticism continues to circulate about how well they function together, and mixed signals persist about new team president of basketball operations Brad Stevens’ true willingness to part with Marcus Smart.

It is easy to see why both players would be moved. Jerami Grant is a good player, but he doesn’t fit the Detroit Pistons’ rebuilding timeline, so it makes sense to move him and get some future assets in return. Grant has notably been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Dennis Schroder is a great offensive point guard that could help any team, and his small mid-level contract means that it would be easy to move him. Schroder is also a free agent at the end of the season, and if the Celtics don’t want to re-sign him, it could be best to move him and get something in return.

We’ll see if either player ends up getting moved, but it seems as though that could be a possibility. Perhaps we’ll hear more about this situation in the future as we head closer to the February 10th trade deadline.
