The rave around Stephen Curry will be around for a while, as he set a record that not many thought will be achievable. Although Steph has changed the game and ushered in a generation of basketball players with a shoot-first mentality, it will take some doing to overcome his record.

While Steph is the one being celebrated, some people helped him on his journey to setting this record. The list of players with the most assists to Steph’s 3s is composed of certain players many expected, including Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

Draymond has provided Steph with the most assists, totaling 479 in ten years. Steph has recognized the effort his teammates have put in leading to this historic moment. To show his appreciation, Steph presented Green and Andre Iguodala with engraved Rolex wristwatches. The video surfaced on the internet after the game in the tunnel.

It was an emotional night for Steph, who went in search of his parents and hugged them, also presenting his father, Dell, with the match ball. LeBron James also congratulated Steph on his achievement via Twitter.

So far in his career, Steph has knocked down 2,977 three-pointers, and according to Draymond, he will beat the record by 1,000. Steph hitting 4,000 three-pointers before he hangs his boot is not unrealistic, as the 33-year old could continue to perform at a high level for the next four years.

The fanfare will go on for a while, as events like these happen once in a long time. Shoe company Under Armour also released a new commercial immediately after the match to celebrate Steph.

In the record-setting game at Madison Square Garden, Steph recorded 22 points in the Golden State Warriors’ 105-96 win over the New York Knicks. So far this season, he is averaging 26.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.
