NBA Rumors: Portland Trail Blazers And Sacramento Kings Could Trade For Domantas Sabonis

Domantas Sabonis is one of the best power forwards in the league, and he has often been lauded for his versatile offensive game. Sabonis is a great interior finisher and passer and can shoot well from the midrange area.

It was previously reported that the Indiana Pacers could move some of their players, including Domantas Sabonis to start a rebuilding process. It’s easy to see why they would do that: they are currently 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 12-17 record.

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report has recently revealed that the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings are viewed as “potential landing spots” for Domantas Sabonis in a trade. It is easy to see how Domantas Sabonis would help both teams, as the Kings and the Trail Blazers lack a proven big man.

Sabonis’ value around the league seems mixed, but there are several teams in the playoff picture, such as the Blazers and Kings, team executives have pointed to as potential landing spots. The Trail Blazers have Jusuf Nurkic and Robert Covington available. Sacramento has weighed trade interest for each of Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley and Harrison Barnes dating back to last season’s trade deadline, and Carlisle is known to have an affinity for Barnes from their time together in Dallas.

We’ll see what happens with Domantas Sabonis in the future, but it is clear that he is being shopped around the league currently. Fischer does mention that his “value around the league seems mixed” so the amount of assets that teams are willing to give up for him is likely varied.

Domantas Sabonis could be a difference-maker for a lot of teams, especially teams trying to make the playoffs. He can be that extra piece that gets a team to where they want to be, and perhaps we’ll see him on a new franchise prior to the end of the trade deadline.
