Ja Morant has been a talking point for the NBA and the media despite the Memphis Grizzlies being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. This is due to Morant being caught flashing guns once again

The NBA is not going to take it easy on Morant after he showed no remorse, given the light suspension he was given in March for flashing guns. Adam Silver has said that they’ve found additional information and will reveal Morant’s punishment after the Finals are over.

“We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information. We probably could have brought it to a head now, but we’ve made the decision that it would be unfair to these players and these teams to announce that decision in the middle of this series.”

If there is a punishment to be handed out, doing it right now will torpedo the Finals. The coverage that the Heat and Nuggets deserve will fall to Morant, who disappointed fans both on the court and off the court this season.

Should Ja Morant Be Punished Seriously?

It seems the situation with Morant is quite divisive. Many fans think this is much ado about nothing and that Morant shouldn’t be punished because carrying guns are permissible by the laws in Memphis. Other fans think Morant is shirking his responsibilities as a role model and is using his status and platform to escape accountability for anything he does.

There have been very concerning reports about how Morant acts around his entourage and family, even allegedly threatening people on his family’s behalf. With that and the laser light incident against the Indiana Pacers, it seems the NBA’s punishment will aim to ensure Ja doesn’t repeat any action that brings negative attention to the league and his franchise.
