Andre Iguodala Compared Anthony Edwards To Dwyane Wade: “He Can Change Those Directions… And He’s Explosive Coming Out Of It. It’s Insane.”

Anthony Edwards is on a watchlist of young stars that have the potential to be the next big thing in the NBA. With the Minnesota Timberwolves finally putting together a core that can be seriously competitive, Edwards taking the next step in his development is the only thing that can truly catapult them into serious contention for the NBA championship for the first time in the franchise’s entire history.

And Edwards looks ready, too, everything that people are saying about what he looks like in offseason workouts is extremely promising. At just 20 years of age, Edwards has averaged over 20 points per game during his first two seasons in the NBA. That average is almost identical to another NBA legend’s first couple of years in the league, none other than Dwyane Wade.

Speaking to none other than Dwyane Wade, Andre Iguodala brought up the comparison between him and Edwards, giving the young Wolves star the highest praise.

“He’s like you when he can change those directions and he can split pick and rolls, and he’s explosive coming out of it. It’s insane.”

Iguodala is a big believer in Edwards and his talent and potential, he thinks that Edwards has what it takes to make it as a superstar in the league. However, if he wants his career trajectory to follow that of Wade’s, he will have to win a championship next season. Wade led the team alongside Shaquille O’Neal in his third season in the league to a championship, perhaps the most impressive aspect of his legacy.

The good thing for Ant is that the Timberwolves seem to be on the same wavelength as him, Karl-Anthony Towns has already described next season as ‘championship or bust.’ There is a significant amount of pressure on Edwards as well, but his personality so far has made it clear that he simply isn’t too bothered by all the noise outside. He also welcomes the expectations, and if he carries on the way he has so far, he could very well reach the heights that Wade managed to reach in his career.
