Anthony Davis was back on the NBA court after enjoying a long offseason with plenty of time for the Los Angeles Lakers star to get in shape for the 2022-23 season. AD has struggled with injuries for the last 2 years, and the Lakers will be relying on him being healthy for a good record this season.
He looked solid against the Sacramento Kings in his preseason debut, logging 11 points and 11 rebounds in limited minutes. There was a very rare NBA moment in the game as Anthony Davis was given a technical foul in the first quarter after he yelled ‘come on, ref’ after a no-call, something he explained in his post-game comments.
Anthony Davis, when asked about him picking up a rare technical foul, joked, “I need to get my hair done, that’s what it is.” pic.twitter.com/Jhs467zcoZ

“I apologize. I was in mid-season form out there. I definitely apologize. I don’t know, I need to get my hair done, that’s what it is.”
Davis isn’t one to lose his temper on the basketball court, especially in the preseason. maybe this is just the more aggressive side of AD that is competing hard on the court from start to finish, but that’s something we’ll have to see over the season.
Will Anthony Davis Be The Superstar The Lakers Need?
The Lakers have openly said before that Anthony Davis would be their primary option this season, a big responsibility for the star. Davis clearly has the talent to be in that position, but his durability is questionable. Considering LeBron James is still playing at a high level and is still on the squad, trusting AD is a big decision.
Even though he’s injury-prone, AD is younger and in the middle of his prime. There is no reason for him to not perform at expected levels when he is healthy, so the Lakers will be counting on him to step up. This also means that the Lakers have faith in his health this season, a very encouraging thought for fans of the franchise.
Hopefully, it all goes well in Laker land with Davis. If he can perform at the level we know he can play with LeBron, the Lakers may be a threat in the West.
