Anthony Davis was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019. He did lead the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship. But apart from that, Davis’ stint with the Purple and Gold has been ordinary.

Despite that, the Lakers awarded Davis with the richest annual extension in NBA history. He recently signed a three-year $186 million extension with the team. Austin Reaves recently shared his honest views on the Lakers’ decision to bring back Anthony Davis on a deal where he’ll earn $62 million per season.

“Sign it! You got to, he’s Anthony Davis,” Reaves said, per HoopsHype. “People out there doubt him sometimes, but he’s arguably one of the most skilled players in the league. He’s got incredible IQ to the game. He’s a joy to play with and a joy to be around, so as long as I can be around him for my career, the better I’ll be for it.”

Davis has averaged 24.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in four seasons with the Lakers. Despite the obvious doubts about his health, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is confident after re-signing Anthony Davis. Pelinka believes Davis will be a crucial part of the Lakers’ future.

Austin Reaves Opens Up On What He Has Learned From LeBron James And Anthony Davis’ Work Ethic

Austin Reaves became a crucial member of the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in the 2022-23 season.

In the playoffs, he had 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. It’s evident that Austin Reaves has apparently learned a lot from the work ethic of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

“A little bit of everything, honestly,” Reaves said. “As far as LeBron [James], he never wastes a second he’s not asleep. He’s doing something to enhance his body or treatment to feel better, be better.

“He’s in the gym all the time. Just how to be a pro… And AD basically the same thing just how to be a pro, kind of learn on the fly.”

Reaves wants to win an NBA championship with James and the Lakers next season. Keeping that goal in mind, Reaves needs to keep improving and so far, he has done just that. The Laker Nation will hope he keeps improving at the same pace and ultimately help the team in winning championship No. 18.
