Austin Reaves was one of the many who couldn’t believe it when the Golden State Warriors traded for Chris Paul by sending Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards.

Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, the Los Angeles Lakers star shared his two cents on the blockbuster trade, and had a hilarious response at that.

“That was random. One of the coaches… told me. I was like, you’re probably looking at the wrong… I think that’s ButtCrackSports, that always puts out false stuff.”

As comical as it sounds, Reaves isn’t wrong. While some outlets do indeed circulate fake news, some have made a name for themselves as meme pages. And in a day and age where a verified Twitter mark is easy to gain, it’s easy to take readers for a ride.

That said, Paul is indeed a Warriors and now the Lakers and Reaves will go up against the seasoned veteran playing for a superstar side. With the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green ready and raring to go, the move to Golden State is an all-or-bust attempt for Paul to win his maiden NBA championship.

Can Austin Reaves Win An NBA Championship With The Los Angeles Lakers?

They may have just two big names for a side competing against the likes of stacked units such as the Phoenix Suns, and the Golden State Warriors. but the current Lakers roster is versatile and boasts of quality depth.

Reaves and LA will be a confident unit heading into the 2023-24 season. They extended Anthony Davis’ contract and with LeBron James confirming that he would return for his 21st season, the only concern the Lakers have to worry about is health. Earlier, Reaves shared his honest feelings about winning a title with James.

“That’s my guy. I’ve learned a lot from him in the past two years. It feels good when he kind of validates that you can actually play. It’s been a special two years, and hopefully, we can go win a championship this year.”

And he was indeed the perfect foil averaging 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in the playoffs to help James and Davis in their quest for a title. Much depends on Reaves as well if he can maintain his consistency to help the Lakers go the distance.
