Bill Simmons has been in the business for quite a long time at this point. While not everyone might be his biggest fan, especially with his bias toward the Boston Celtics when it comes to his analysis, there is no doubt that he is quite connected in NBA circles.

So, when the news finally came out in September that Robert Sarver was going to sell the Phoenix Suns, Simmons, on his podcast, put out his estimate regarding the final buying price by stating it would be at least $4 billion and then had Mat Ishbia as a potential buyer. Well, what do you know, he was on the money with his prediction, as almost three months later, Ishbia is buying the Suns for $4 billion.

He can take a victory lap for getting that one right, as we didn’t really hear anyone else suggest Ishbia as the buyer. Simmons had another prediction to make after this, and that was regarding the potential expansion team in Las Vegas.

Bill Simmons Predicts That LeBron James And Fenway Sports Group Will Land The Vegas Expansion Team

We know that expansion is coming in the NBA at some point in the future, and a few cities have emerged as strong contenders. One of them is Las Vegas and Simmons says Fenway Sports Group (FSG), with whom LeBron James is a partner, will be the ones to get a team in Vegas.

This one is probably a little less bold than his Ishbia prediction, as LeBron himself has stated in the past that he wants to own a team in Las Vegas. Reports have also indicated that FSG is looking to sell Liverpool FC, the soccer team they own in the U.K., and it might be done with an eye on buying an NBA team in Las Vegas. Nothing is going to happen on the expansion front in the near future, however, as the league has stated, it is still some ways away. It does seem likely, though, that we’ll finally have another player after Michael Jordan owning an NBA team when expansion finally takes place.
