The Charlotte Hornets are one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the NBA right now. While they are not as star-studded as the likes of the Brooklyn Nets or other super teams, they have a young star in the making in LaMelo Ball, alongside multiple decent pickups like Terry Rozier and PJ Washington.
With Ball leading the way, the Hornets play a very flashy style of basketball. From thunderous dunks to else, Charlotte certainly is an entertaining team to watch in the league. Michael Jordan certainly has hit the jackpot with the pickup of LaMelo, and building a team around him might be the next step to take for the team.
NBA Insider Bill Simmons Claims Michael Jordan Could Sell The Hornets
Although it seems like the Hornets are headed on the right path with Ball starring in the squad, it seems like we might see a shocking change in the ownership of the team sooner or later.
According to NBA insider Bill Simmons, Jordan might be willing to sell the Hornets for a price similar to that of the Minnesota Timberwolves sale.
“You have Charlotte that’s gonna become available, which you know you would’ve tied them to something close to the Minnesota price. But now who knows…”
This is pretty interesting news for Hornets fans. While the team has looked great in terms of play for the last two seasons, the organization hasn’t made much progress, though. Apart from a couple of playoff appearances, the Hornets do not have much to show for under Jordan’s ownership. Not only that, the team has made some terrible draft blunders in the last decade, slowing down the rebuild significantly.
With new ownership, things might change for the better for the Charlotte Hornets and its fans. As for Jordan, who bought the team for $275 million, the Hornets as far as 2021, are valued at a mind-boggling $1.5 billion. If he does decide to sell the team, the 6-time NBA champion might be in for a massive payday.
