Bill Simmons Was Furious With Zach Lowe Over Comments About Steph Curry: “You’re An Idiot If You Made That Point… The Warriors Were 140-24 In The Two Seasons Before Durant Got There. You Guys Are Morons If You Said That.”

The Ringer’s Bill Simmons kept the receipts for ESPN’s Zach Lowe and the narrative about Stephen Curry entering this season. The Golden State Warriors lost Kevin Durant in the summer of 2019, they looked to get Klay Thompson back this season but that didn’t happen since Klay picked up another injury.

Curry knew he had a big load for this campaign and he was never afraid of that but analysts were trying to bring him down and putting a big question mark on his back as the Warriors entered the season with a completely different roster than the one they had during their five straight trips to the Finals.

Recently, Simmons and Lowe were discussing this topic on The Bill Simmons podcast, with the host calling out Lowe and a lot of reporters for doubting Stephen Curry’s capacity to carry the Warriors, something he had already done before they signed Kevin Durant in 2016 (54:00 mark).

-Zach Lowe: “This is a big year for Steph Curry because there was a lot of, ‘Can he carry a team?’ “

-Bill Simmons: “From idiots. You’re an idiot if you made that point … they were 140-24 in the two seasons before Durant got there. You guys are morons if you said that.”

Although he’s made a lot of great things in the league, is one of the most influential players in the last 20, 30 years, Curry still receives a lot of hate from fans and media members. This is another example of that and it’s really unfair. The Warriors superstar is taking his team to the 7th position in the Western Conference, being competitive when nobody thought they were even going to make the playoffs.

Curry keeps proving his doubters wrong and he’s playing some of the best basketball in his career this season. He has demonstrated he can carry a team but seeing that a lot of folks had doubts about that, he’s confirming that. The 2x NBA MVP is recording 29.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in 33 games with the Warriors.

He has been a killer but also an unselfish player, helping his teammates to get better even if he had to make sacrifices. He can take the load of carrying a team and do a great job because he can adapt his game to the needs of his team.
