The Boston Celtics are a team that has needed a solid point guard for quite some time now. It seems as though they are getting their lead guard today via a trade with the San Antonio Spurs.
Adrian Wojnarowski has recently revealed that the Celtics will be acquiring Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Josh Richardson. It seems as though Romeo Langford and a first-round pick will be sent to the Spurs by the Celtics as well.

There is no doubt that a point guard like Derrick White helps the Celtics on the offensive end. They will now have someone who can run the offense for them, and take some of the playmaking duties away from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Derrick White also has a decent enough scoring game for a guard, currently averaging 14.4 PPG.
The San Antonio Spurs will be getting a two-way wing in Josh Richardson, as well as a young prospect in Romeo Langford in this deal. The 1st round pick will also help them rebuild as well. There’s no question that this is a solid deal that allows them to look towards the future.
It remains to be seen if these teams make any other moves. However, as far as this trade goes, it seems like a win-win deal, and could definitely pay huge dividends for both teams.
