Kevin Durant’s trade saga is finally over, and the NBA world can finally move forward. There’s no doubt that there were a lot of franchises that were trying to get him, but it seems as though they will have to move on to other pursuits.

One of the teams that were consistently linked to Kevin Durant is the Boston Celtics. However, Brad Stevens recently downplayed those rumors, claiming that “it’s been pretty quiet” for the team “for a while now”, also stating that the front office “felt really good” about the roster since trading for Malcolm Brogdon. Brian Robb of Mass Live relayed the news.

“Since the Brogdon trade, we felt really good about our team,” Stevens told Merloni, Fauria and Mego on WEEI Tuesday in an appearance during the station’s Jimmy Fund fundraiser. “We felt really good about building around these guys that we’ve been building around, trying to accentuate our best players.”

Stevens added: ”We’re excited to move forward with our team and that’s really been our focus for a while. You say it’s been busy and there’s been a lot of talk but it hasn’t been from me. Hopefully, it gave everyone something to talk about. It’s been pretty quiet on our front for a while now.”

There’s no doubt that adding Kevin Durant could have potentially been nice for the team, but with the Brooklyn Nets’ exorbitant asking price, a trade would have been hard to make without gutting the roster. The Boston Celtics will now have the advantage of continuity next season.

The Boston Celtics will likely try to make it back to the NBA Finals, and there’s no doubt that they have the talent to win it all next year. It is clear that Brad Stevens believes in what the team has, and we’ll see if they are able to win at the highest level in the future.
