Kevin Durant is one of the top superstars in the league today, and there is no doubt he is dominating with the Brooklyn Nets as of now. Currently, Kevin Durant is having one of his best seasons, averaging 29.9 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.5 APG.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently 3rd in the Eastern Conference, with a 25-13 record. Due to Kevin Durant’s production and his team’s record, many have wondered whether he has a chance to win the MVP award this year. In the recent episode of the Fadeaway World Podcast, Lee Tran and Kyle Daubs discuss Kevin Durant’s MVP chances for this season. (13:43)

Lee Tran: Kevin Durant himself he’s out here hooping. He has the Nets as a top-2 seed in the Eastern Conference right now. Kevin Durant is averaging 29.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 5.5 APG… I’m gonna say it. Based on his production and based on his team seeding he should be a top-3 MVP candidate right now.

Kyle Daubs: I’ll do you one better. I wrote an article in August, predicting the next three MVP winners. 2022-23 my prediction was Kevin Durant. My take was at the time “Hey, he saw the Warriors win the title. He hasn’t led the Nets to a Conference Finals. He showed glimpses last year of being a top player”… There was kind of that speculation of whether he was truly going to stay with the Nets or not. The fact that he’s here is clearly locked in… He has to be that guy. Irving is clearly a No. 2… The Nets look really good. If the Nets can continue to play this level of basketball… There’s no doubt that Durant will be a top-3 MVP candidate.

There is no question that Kevin Durant is having a fantastic season, and he is certainly worthy of being in the MVP discussion. It remains to be seen if he does actually win the award, but it would be no surprise at all to see that happen.
