Carmelo Anthony After Passing Hakeem Olajuwon On The NBA’s All-Time Scoring List: “I’m Still Here.”

2 Min Read

It’s still crazy that Carmelo Anthony was out of the league for a year before being picked up by the Trail Blazers. Despite being cast out and abandoned by the NBA, Melo re-entered the fold to play a huge role for his new team, and is now one of the biggest reasons why they have stayed afloat amid injuries to several key players.

Following a team-high 26-point performance against the Timberwolves, which saw him pass Hakeem Olajuwon for 11th on the all-time scoring list, he gave a message to the community, letting us all know that he’s still got something left in the tank.

“I’m still here. I’m still playing, I’m still going. I’m still enjoying the game. I’m still happy. That’s all that matters. I’m still here, I can continue to play, I’m still climbing.”

For a guy that was deemed unplayable, Melo is definitely putting on an impressive display. Despite his age, and his history with previous teams, Anthony has found a way to thrive in Portland, re-discovering his offensive game and helping them stay competitive in the Western Conference.

And while we don’t know what the future has in store for the guy, or how much longer he’ll be in the league, we’ve got to appreciate what he’s doing this season, amid the overwhelming odds that were stacked against him.
