Chandler Parsons recently spoke on ‘Run It Back TV’, revealing an apparent beef between Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. According to Parsons, there is genuine animosity between the two former teammates, which will manifest itself when Porzingis returns to Dallas with the Boston Celtics.

“It will be way more, you know, violent towards Kyrie Irving in Boston, no doubt, but don’t get twisted. They do not like Porzingis in Dallas. Luka did not like playing with him. There is an actual beef there where it’s going to be every time he touches the ball he’s getting booed.”

“Dallas, for whatever reason, those fans, they’re proudful. Like, if you’re hurt, if you’re not playing, if you’re not doing what you were doing the years before you got to the Mavs, they don’t like you.”

“Now we’re talking about the NBA finals, and this is how it’s matching up. So yeah, I think there definitely is more motivation for both these players. It’ll definitely be more gnarly in Boston for Kyrie Irving, but I guarantee you Porzingis gets booed every time he touches the ball.”

He elaborated that Dallas fans are particularly passionate and hold grudges against players who underperform or are frequently injured, as was the case with Porzingis during his tenure with the Mavericks.

Porzingis joined the Mavericks with high expectations but struggled to meet them consistently due to injuries and a lack of chemistry with Doncic. Over his three seasons in Dallas, he averaged 20.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 44.8% from the field and 34.5% from three-point range.

Despite these decent stats, the Mavericks failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs during his time with the team, leading to his trade in the 2021-22 season.

Following the trade, the Mavericks reached the Western Conference Finals, further highlighting the perceived incompatibility between Doncic and Porzingis. Now, as Porzingis prepares to face his former team in the NBA Finals, the tension is palpable. Having joined the Celtics in the offseason, Porzingis has been a significant contributor, though he will be coming off an injury that sidelined him for several playoff games.

Parsons noted the extra motivation for both players, stating that Porzingis would likely want to prove a point against his former team. While the animosity towards Kyrie Irving in Boston may be more intense due to his controversial departure, the hostility towards Porzingis in Dallas will be evident every time he touches the ball.

As the Mavericks and Celtics lock horns in the NBA Finals, all eyes will be on the dynamic between Doncic and Porzingis. Their past discord adds an intriguing subplot to what promises to be a thrilling series, with both players eager to assert their dominance and prove their worth on the biggest stage.

This NBA Finals Is Filled With Intriguing Storylines

The NBA Finals are packed with intriguing storylines and captivating battles, making this championship showdown a must-watch for basketball fans. Several mini-battles and narratives are unfolding, adding layers of drama and excitement to the series.

One of the most anticipated matchups is between Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics. Irving’s departure from Boston left a bitter taste, and Celtics fans have not forgotten. The animosity between Irving and his former team promises to add extra intensity to every game. Every time Irving steps onto the court, the crowd’s reaction and his performance against his old team will be a focal point.

Another compelling narrative is the battle between Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic. Tatum, who entered the league two years before Doncic, has often been overshadowed by the hype surrounding the Mavericks‘ star.

Despite Tatum’s impressive playoff resume and consistent performance, Doncic has garnered more media attention and fanfare. This Finals series provides Tatum an opportunity to assert himself and prove he belongs in the same conversation as Doncic.

Within the Celtics, an interesting dynamic exists between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Tatum has long been considered the Celtics’ best player, but Brown’s recent performances, including winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP, have sparked discussions about his rising status.

While head coach Joe Mazzulla has dismissed any talk of a rift between the two, their on-court chemistry and individual performances will be closely watched. Brown’s quest to step out of Tatum’s shadow and solidify his place as a co-leader of the team adds another layer to the Celtics’ storyline.

Additionally, the matchup between the Celtics’ formidable defense and the Mavericks’ potent offense will be a key battleground. The Celtics have one of the best defensive units in the league, while the Mavericks boast elite scorers in Doncic and Irving. How Boston’s defense handles the Mavericks’ firepower, and vice versa, will likely determine the series’ outcome.

Furthermore, the health and performance of key players like Kristaps Porzingis, who has a history of injuries, and his reunion with his former team, the Mavericks, add another intriguing subplot. Porzingis’ ability to stay healthy and contribute significantly could be a game-changer for the Celtics.

Overall, the NBA Finals are set to be a thrilling contest filled with personal rivalries, team dynamics, and strategic battles. Each game will bring its own set of storylines, making this series a captivating spectacle for basketball enthusiasts.
