The Golden State Warriors won the 2022 NBA championship, and though they fell short in 2023, many expect them to be contenders next season. Stephen Curry is still playing superstar-level basketball, and the team has a good roster to support him. However, it seems as though the Warriors do have some doubters.

NBA legend Charles Barkley is an analyst who is known for being a detractor of the Warriors, and he recently stated his belief that the Warriors are the worst team in California due to their aging core.

“The Warriors are the 4th best team in California in my opinion. Old people don’t better, they just get older. I just don’t like their team going forward. The Lakers, Kings, and the Clippers are all better than the Warriors.”

There is no doubt that this is a bold take. The Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings in the 2023 playoffs, and it is fair to say that they should be given the benefit of the doubt. They also got further than the Los Angeles Clippers, who were eliminated in the first round. Even if the Warriors aren’t the same force they used to be, they clearly have the experience and talent to win it all.

As long as Curry is present on the roster and playing like he has over the last few years, the Warriors will be contending for a championship. However, Father Time comes for everyone, and we’ll see if Curry can continue being dominant for at least a few more years.

Andre Iguodala Believes The Warriors Can Stil Win More Championships

The Warriors are still one of the better teams in the Western Conference, and though Barkley isn’t a fan, there are some who believe they can still win titles. In fact, Andre Iguodala previously claimed the Warriors aren’t done winning titles.

“When you have Steph on your team you always shave a chance,” said Iggy. “You can never count him out. It’s him and LeBron… you can’t count them out until it’s over.”

It is true that having a generational talent on a team counts for a lot when it comes to contending for titles. Curry is certainly one of those generational talents, and he is the best 3PT shooter of all time, which subsequently makes him one of the best scorers of all time. Having a player like Curry means that the team always has a chance, even if it’s a relatively small one.

The Warriors Moved Jordan Poole For Chris Paul This Past Offseason

The Warriors’ biggest move of the summer was moving young guard Jordan Poole for veteran star Chris Paul. The team clearly wanted to prioritize leadership and experience in their acquisitions, and Paul could potentially be an upgrade for the bench unit.

The team will be losing a scoring punch from Poole being gone though, and the hope is for a player like Jonathan Kuminga to be able to step up as a scorer. Paul could help Kuminga blossom with his passing ability.

Only time will tell how well Paul fits in on the Warriors. On paper, he should be a good role player for the team due to his playmaking and game knowledge, and we’ll see how he does this season.
