A lot has been said about LeBron James and Kevin Durant creating superteams in the league, with some fans defending their favorite player and attacking the other.

For Charles Barkley, though, there is no difference between LeBron’s and Durant’s decisions.

“First of all, there’s no difference,” Barkley told Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take. “But this is the problem — Kevin gets mad at me when I point this out — if you go back and look at LeBron, who I really admire and respect, he said this. I did not say this. He says, ‘I had to win a championship without Dwyane [Wade] to get oldheads’ respect.’”

Chuck added that he holds Kevin Durant to the same standard as LeBron, saying that the new Phoenix Suns player must win a championship without the Golden State Warriors superstar to be considered as great as guys like LeBron, Kobe Bryant and others.

“I hold Kevin Durant to the same criteria. … He’s an all-time great, but when it comes to being mentioned with some of these other guys, he going to have to win a championship when he’s the leader of the team, and he’s the best player.”

When LeBron James joined the Miami Heat in 2010, it was a huge move that many people believe changed everything around the league. James went to four consecutive NBA Finals with the Heat, winning two championships in the process. He then went back to Cleveland and delivered a championship, which Chuck believes is the difference there.

As for KD, he joined the 73-win Golden State Warriors that beat him the prior season, which made a lot of people raise their eyebrows

KD went to three NBA Finals with the Dubs, also winning two championships before heading to Brooklyn, where he failed to add another championship to his resume, ultimately getting traded to the Suns.

Kevin Durant Called Out Charles Barkley For Joining Superteams During His Career

Kevin Durant and Charles Barkley have been beefing for a hot minute now, and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. He recently joined his friend Eddie Gonzalez when he brought the receipts of Barkley pushing for a trade out of Philadelphia and then Phoenix, the same thing he criticized Durant for.

KD is always ready to fire back at Barkley, and now that Chuck said that Durant must win a championship on his own, it won’t be long before KD fires back, as he usually does.
