The Los Angeles Lakers are going through their best moment of the season, beating big rivals to make it clear they are ready to clinch a playoff spot.

The Purple and Gold are aspiring to get to the 6th seed this season, and ESPN’s Brian Windhorst perfectly explained why (5:50 mark).

“The reason why Darvin Ham is talking about 6th [seed] is that they’re targeting the Sacramento Kings. The Sacramento Kings in 3rd, they’re very likely to finish 3rd. That’s the team that they want in the first round, an inexperienced team. That’s their dream scenario. If you’re a Lakers fan, you’re dreaming of somehow getting to 6th against the Kings.”

The Lakers and Kings had one of the most intense NBA rivalries in the 2000s, and perhaps their current situations could be the catalyst to reignite the bad blood between them.

The Kings are having a terrific season, ranking 3rd in the Western Conference standings, surprising a lot of people that didn’t even think they could be close to the .500 mark ahead of this season. With their beam and their duo of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, this team is making a lot of noise in this campaign.

Los Angeles Lakers Are 4-1 Since The Trade Deadline

On the other side, the Lakers have had a terrific time following their entertaining trade deadline. Following the exit of Russell Westbrook, considered a big move by many fans, the Purple and Gold landed three interesting players that are helping them win games and boast a 4-1 record since the deadline.

Things are looking really promising for the Lakers right now, and even though they’re playing without D’Angelo Russell, the Purple, and Gold are showing interesting things in their last couple of games.

This is a dangerous team, and they proved that after a huge 27-point comeback against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. Don’t sleep on the new-look Lakers, as they look ready to go for everything now.
