Charles Barkley has once again dismissed the Golden State Warriors’ chances at getting to the NBA Finals this season. When Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown spoke on being ready for Draymond Green and the Warriors should they meet again in the Finals, Barkley hilariously stated Green won’t be there.
Jaylen Brown: “When I played against you in the Finals, when you went to that level of force, we wasn’t ready. But we gonna be ready this time.”
Draymond Green: “I appreciate you.”
Charles Barkley: “First of all, he won’t be there.”
(starts at 5:22 mark):
Barkley’s humor has always been on point and this was absolutely hilarious on his part. Brown and the Celtics, of course, lost to the Green and the Warriors in six games in the 2022 NBA Finals. Were these teams to meet again, though, things might turn out differently.
The Celtics, despite some hiccups, have been the best team in the East this season, and sit atop the standings with a 43-12 record. The Warriors, meanwhile, are down at 10th in the West with a 27-26 record.
Barkley is far from the only one to have written them off, but Golden State has shown some signs of life of late. They have won eight of their last 10 games, with Green, who is averaging 9.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game this season, shining on the defensive end.
On offense, the Warriors seem to have found a reliable secondary scorer next to Stephen Curry, as Jonathan Kuminga has really started to come into his own. Rookie Brandin Podziemski has been very impressive as well, so optimism is growing in the building and among the fanbase.
Do I think they now have what it takes to mount a serious title challenge? Not really. I think the Warriors will make the playoffs, and they might win a series, but the Conference Semifinals is as far as I can see this team going, as was the case last season.
Golden State has proven its doubters wrong on many occasions during their dynastic run, with Barkley having had to eat his words a fair few times. This time, though, the 60-year-old will be proven right, I think. The Warriors just seem a piece or two away from being a true contender at this point.
Charles Barkley Dissed San Francisco Too
As if talking down the Warriors’ chances wasn’t enough, Barkley also wildly dissed San Francisco. When Green brought up that the city will be hosting the 2025 All-Star Game, the Hall of Famer took a shot at it.
“Oh, that’s not a great one,” Barkley said.
Green told Barkley this is exactly why he isn’t welcome there. In response, Sir Charles wanted Draymond to admit it’s dangerous there, but he was assured that things are a lot better now.
“Okay, I hope so,” Barkley stated. “But it was not safe or clean the last time we were there.”
Draymond: "For All-Star, we got San Francisco next year."
Chuck: "Oh, that's not a great one."
Draymond: "Relax. That's why you're not welcomed there!" pic.twitter.com/dtCZ6jwuIQ

We often talk about Barkley roasting San Antonio, but he has gone in on San Francisco a lot more often in recent years. Barkley even admitted a few years ago that he just doesn’t like San Francisco.
Comments like that combined with how often he has dismissed the Warriors are exactly why he isn’t the most popular person in the area. Not that Barkley is losing any sleep over it, of course.
