Chris Bosh On What Bam Adebayo Must Do To Reach The Next Level: “Shoot It. That’s All He Needs To Do Is Shoot It.”

3 Min Read

Chris Bosh is one of the best big men the Miami Heat have had on their roster. The 2x NBA champion was a key factor in the team’s two championships in 2012 and 2013. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade often refer to Bosh as the glue that put everything together for the Big 3 Heat.

He has all the right to discuss Heat-related topics, as he recently did in an interview. Talking with Anthony Chiang of Miami Herald, Bosh spoke about the team getting swept in the playoff last season, saying they weren’t unbeatable.

Moreover, he offered a piece of advice to Bam Adebayo, one of the team’s best players right now. Adebayo is already one of the best big men in the league, but he’s trying to reach the next level. In order to do so, Bosh believes he needs to start shooting the ball more. When that happens, the center will improve his level.

“Shoot it. That’s it. Shoot it. Shoot it. That’s all he needs to do is shoot it, I’m telling you. I did it for 13 years in the league, man, and it didn’t steer me wrong. Shoot it. He has the playmaking ability, he is unselfish. It’s wonderful that he’s a team player. But for him to get to where he wants to go, he’s going to have to shoot the ball. I think he’s more than capable. Once he proves that he’s a threat out there, Brook Lopez and DeAndre Jordan and all those bigs, they can’t just be in the middle of the paint playing traffic cop. He needs to come back and he needs to shoot it until they guard him. That would be my recommendation.”

In a league that lives and dies for the 3-pointer, the only way to survive is to adapt. More big men are trying to be better outside shooters every offseason. Bam is already a menace in the paint; he can dominate whoever he wants at it, but something is missing in his game.

He can be great for the Heat and surpass Bosh, Shaquille O’Neal, or Alonzo Mourning as the team’s greatest big man. However, Chris first wants to see him trying these shots to take his level to the next dimension.
