Chris Mullin Says The 2017 Warriors Would Beat The 1996 Bulls

Golden State Warriors icon Chris Mullin was asked to pick the winner between the 2017 version of the Warriors that featured the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant or the 1996 Chicago Bulls that set a then-record 72-10 in the NBA led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and company.

Mullin faced Jordan and his Bulls several times, so he knows first-hand what he’s talking about. However, he went with the Warriors on this one, explaining that the power of the offense those Dubs had would make a difference in the series.

“I go with the Warriors on that one just because of the offensive firepower,” Mullin told NBC Sports NBA Insider Tom Haberstroh on “The Habershow” podcast.

“They’d put Scottie on Steph — Phil Jackson’s philosophy was cut the head of the snake off, so that would be a long series for Steph. Michael and (Ron) Harper could hound Klay. Now, hounding and stopping are two different things. But with (Kevin) Durant — you’re talking about arguably the top offensive player when it’s all said and done. He’s gonna be up there all time,” Mullin explained.

KD is indeed one of the most gifted scorers in the history of the league, but we’re talking about one of the greatest teams in the world with arguably the greatest coach of all time. The Warriors also had a great group of players during their 2017 playoffs run, smashing their rivals on the way to the Finals and the championship.

We’ll never know who would win this hypothetical game, but it’d certainly be one for the ages.
