Chris Paul has been a great point guard in this league for a very long time. He can score at a solid level, but what he’s truly known for is his playmaking. Chris Paul has broken many records due to his stellar play, and he recently reached another statistical milestone.
During the recent game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Chris Paul passed another legendary point guard in Steve Nash to become third on the all-time assist list, and tallied 18 assists on the night.
There’s no doubt that it’s a great achievement for Chris Paul, and his amazing longevity definitely played a part in it. He is now only behind John Stockton and Jason Kidd on that list. After the game, Chris Paul took the time to comment on what is third on the assist list meant to him, expressing gratitude for the fact that he’s still able to play in the NBA.

Man it’s amazing. You know my family’s here. My dad… Playing against New Orleans, where it all started for me… It’s an honor and a privilege, and I thank God that I still get a chance to play.
Chris Paul’s playmaking-based style of play should allow him to keep impacting the game even as he continues aging. He’s had a long and productive time in the NBA, and even if he isn’t what he was in his prime, he’s still a very valuable contributor to the Phoenix Suns. Chris Paul being able to run the offense was part of the reason that the Phoenix Suns made the NBA Finals during the 2020-21 season.
Every team that Chris Paul goes to increases their winning percentage, and that was true for the Suns last season as well. Now, they will have to do it all over again. With Chris Paul as their veteran leader and Devin Booker as their star scorer, they look primed to be a contender once again.
