Damian Lillard’s future with the Portland Trail Blazers is one of the biggest talking points heading into the summer.
Dame has played 11 seasons with the team now, and they are still not any close to winning an NBA Championship as they were during his rookie year. Many believe that Lillard may finally demand a trade this summer to bolster his chances of winning a ring. His former teammate, CJ McCollum, recently discussed Lillard’s future in an episode of ‘The Ryen Russillo Podcast.’
“This is me just making a judgment from the sidelines,” McCollum said. “It’s not like Dame told me this. I think based on whatever they’re going to be able to do with this coming trade, if they’re not able to accomplish something heading towards the direction of winning, the organization may decide, ‘You know what, we can get a quality haul for him.’ And they move him. If I had to guess, I think the market will dictate the decision. I don’t think it will be like a Dame asking out type of thing.”

The Portland Trail Blazers landed the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Instead of using it to draft a young prospect, the Trail Blazers will reportedly trade the pick to surround Dame with great talent.
Well, if the organization still wants to keep Lillard as the cornerstone player on the team, that’s the perfect way to use their draft pick. Otherwise, it would essentially mean that the franchise has given up on winning a title with Lillard as the primary player and will undergo a rebuilding process.
Will Damian Lillard Join The Los Angeles Lakers?
Damian Lillard is still one of the best players in the league in his position. Evidently, if Lillard decides to leave the Trail Blazers, he will draw a lot of attention from teams around the NBA.
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of those rumored locations for Dame. Lillard recently added further fire to those rumors after teasing fans on Instagram Live that he will join the Lakers this summer.
“Where you going this summer?’ They want me to be like… I’m going to the Lakers.”
The Lakers already have a dynamic duo in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. If Lillard joins the iconic franchise, it would certainly bolster their chances of winning the NBA Championship next season.
Will Lillard really join the Lakers? Or he joked around with the fanbase? Well, we will find out over the next few months.
