With the Phoenix Suns priced at $4 billion, it’s fair to say that the NBA is a seller’s market right now.

And while no other teams are believed to be for sale right now, it hasn’t stopped fans, experts, and even some players from dreaming u their own ownership scenarios.

For former Trail Blazers star CJ McCollum, the topic of owning a piece of his former team was mentioned this weekend and his response didn’t exactly shut down the idea.

“We haven’t really talked about it. We both have been focused on [our NBA] careers, but every NBA player would like to own a team.”

The Blazers are owned by Jody Allen at the moment, and it doesn’t look like she will loosen her grip on the team anytime soon. Still, it’s possible that she might consider selling for the right price.

Blazers Owner Reportedly Rejected Massive Offer To Buy The Team

Of course, a $2 billion offer was already made over the summer by Nike co-owner Phil Knight and Alan Smolinisky, which got turned down pretty quickly by Allen.

“As chair of both the Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle Seahawks, my long-term focus is building championship teams that our communities are proud of. Like my brother Paul, I trust and expect our leaders and coaches to build winning teams that deliver results on and off the court and field.

“As we’ve stated before, neither of the teams is for sale and there are no sales discussions happening.

“A time will come when that changes, given Paul’s plans to dedicate the vast majority of his wealth to philanthropy, but estates of this size and complexity can take 10 to 20 years to wind down. There is no pre-ordained timeline by which the teams must be sold.

“Until then, my focus — and that of our teams — is on winning.”

If Dame and CJ really want to partner up and become NBA owners after retirement, they may have to look somewhere else than Rip City. But after all the things that the pair have done for that franchise, they don’t owe them a thing.

Whether owners or not, McCollum and Lillard will always be welcomed and revered as heroes in the city of Portland, and that isn’t going to change for anything.
