Point guard Russell Westbrook is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, and there’s no doubt that he will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Though he didn’t have a strong showing during his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, Westbrook has managed to revitalize his career with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This off-season, Russell Westbrook decided to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, on a two-year deal worth $8.0 million. Recently, we saw Clippers GM Lawrence France speak out about Westbrook, noting that the guard made a “huge impact” on the team during his time with them in the 2022-23 season.

“In the two months Russ spent with the team, he was everything we hoped he would be and more,” Frank stated in the team’s press release. “He made a huge impact on the court, with his play, and off it, with the urgency, intensity and professionalism he brings to the gym on a daily basis.”

On paper, the Los Angeles Clippers should be contenders in the playoffs next year. Though Kawhi and Paul George are likely to miss time during the regular season, Russell Westbrook should stabilize the team in their absence.

The 2022-23 playoffs proved that Russell Westbrook can still be an elite contributor, as he averaged 23.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 7.4 APG for the Los Angeles Clippers. Though he likely won’t get those exact numbers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the roster, it is clear that signing him for such a low price was a steal.

The Los Angeles Clippers Could Still Trade For James Harden

Even though the Los Angeles Clippers already have Russell Westbrook for their PG position, it seems as though they could get even better in that department. In fact, a recent report revealed that the team could still land James Harden.

“I don’t think it necessarily rules Russell Westbrook out. Doesn’t mean that Russell Westbrook can’t get back if Harden becomes a Clipper,” Windhorst said on Friday’s edition of First Take, via Bleacher Report.

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Clippers will acquire James Harden. Getting him will certainly give them a super team, and we’ll see what happens in the future with this situation.
