Colin Cowherd Says It’s Been A Difficult Offseason For Kevin Durant Thanks To The Golden State Warriors Becoming Champions: “It’s Hard Enough To Get A Divorce. It’s Even Harder When They Crush And You Don’t.”

Kevin Durant hasn’t exactly had things go his way in the last few years. Injuries prevented him from achieving a three-peat with the Golden State Warriors. He decided to leave the team and join forces with Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets, but they have managed just one playoff series win in 3 years. And now, despite seeming adamant about leaving Brooklyn and issuing ultimatums, KD finds himself back with the franchise after a trade simply could not be found.

This has led to criticism and trolling from NBA fans as well as the media. KD is a bit of a belligerent personality in that he isn’t afraid to talk back to anyone that has something to say about him. What that also means, though, is that those same people will come at KD hard when things don’t go according to plan. And following his beef with Charles Barkley, the candid NBA legend recently destroyed KD once again.

NBA analyst Colin Cowherd reacted to Barkley’s harsh critiques of KD, including him calling Durant an ‘abject failure’. And while talking about the situation, Cowherd explained his take that a lot of the Nets’ superstar’s misery comes from the success his former team, the Golden State Warriors, recently enjoyed without him.

“I think it’s been a really, really rough off-season for KD,” Cowherd said. “Because when you’re as gifted as him and you go through a divorce and you get some criticism for it and then the other person crushes. You can’t go out the next night and drop 40. You’re stuck in the off-season.

“So I think it’s been a really dark, really, really hard offseason for Kevin Durant, who’s got a little destination addiction personality in him. And that’s okay, everybody’s different, but never forget when he said I want out. It was after the Warriors won, and I think it’s tough. It’s hard enough to get a divorce. It’s really hard when they crush and you don’t.”

While Durant has made it abundantly clear from time to time that he stays focused on himself and his game, it’s hard to imagine he completely brushed off the Warriors’ winning. One of the biggest question marks about KD’s career has been that he hasn’t won without Golden State, and they have now won 2 titles without him. Durant can write as many tweets and rebukes as he likes, the only way to stop this chatter is for him to lead the Nets to a championship next season.
