The NBA's history is defined by the greatest teams and players to have played during different eras since the 50s. The league has seen many legendary teams come and go during that time, Bill Russell's Celtics, the Showtime Lakers, Larry Bird's Celtics, and Michael Jordan's Bulls, these are the names that are immense in the NBA's history.

The modern era also has its fair share of legends, those that have carried teams to NBA championships while being the undisputed best player on their teams. Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry have all won multiple championships as the team's primary stars in the 2000s.

This brings the topic to the star that won back-to-back Finals MVPs but did it on a team that was already stacked. Kevin Durant's legacy has been questioned a lot, especially since the Warriors won their 4th this season, and Colin Cowherd is the latest analyst to weigh in on the situation. He compared KD to the aforementioned stars when addressing what he needs to do.

(starts at 10:40 minutes)

"Since the turn of the millennium, look at our four dynasties. Warriors, Miami Heatles, Lakers with Kobe, Spurs with Duncan. All four had the big guy at the top: Steph, LeBron, Kobe and Duncan.

"All four were totally unique personalities, totally unique games, but all four were leaders in their own way. That’s what KD has to graduate to.

Cowherd also addressed Durant's criticism of what Charles Barkley said about him, going on to suggest that KD does care about things beyond basketball.

"I don’t wanna hear about this, 'I’m just a baller.' You’re too great of a player to just be a baller! And it’s not just about ball with you because if it was, Golden State was perfect."

Unless he can lead the Brooklyn Nets to a championship or go somewhere he can win a few more as the main star, some will always hold his victories against KD. He may be one of the greatest scorers of all time, but the legacy conversations will be a lot different if Durant can win another ring.
