Damian Lillard was a guest on Jeff Teague’s ‘Club 520’ podcast, where he spoke about his legacy and standing among fans and critics. He noted that a lot of people don’t talk about him among the great players in the league, especially compared to some of his peers. Lillard believes it is because he has been consistent, which goes unnoticed.

“They don’t talk about it… Take harder shots, it’s more contested. People guarding you harder. It’s different bro. They definitely don’t talk about it. They act like I don’t be doing what I have been doing.”

“This is gonna be my 13th season… My time in the league, when I think about how many people have been very good over that time, it’s been more people very good for a couple of years.”

“It ain’t been that many people that have been here the whole time since I’ve been in the league that have just been doing it over and over. But I think people just get bored with consistency.”

“And I ain’t loud. But sh*t, I’ve been doing it that long, and winning. It ain’t like I’ve been doing it and I’m just playing for a team that doesn’t make the playoffs. The season before last, I averaged almost 33 a game… I’ve been over 25 for damn near 8-9 years.”

Damian Lillard does make a good point about how he has consistently been one of the best players in the NBA. Lillard whenever he’s healthy, has been among the best scorers in the NBA. But his inability to make any major strides in the playoffs has perhaps held him back in the conversation of the best players in the league.

Damian Lillard Yet To Make An NBA Finals In His Career

In 12 seasons in the NBA, Lillard has averaged 25.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.2 rebounds. His performances have helped him make eight All-Stars and seven All-NBA teams in his career, making him one of the most consistent performers in the NBA.

Damian Lillard has been in the NBA for 12 years now and has established himself as one of the best scoring guards in the league. His ability to make seemingly ridiculous and impossible shots during clutch time is perhaps unmatched in the NBA. But Lillard’s playoff career has left a lot to be desired.

Lillard has played in the playoffs in nine seasons in the NBA. He has had only one year where he reached a conference finals, where he and the Trail Blazers were able to go on a great playoff run, only to be eliminated by the Golden State Warriors.

In Lillard’s defense, he hasn’t ever had a Trail Blazers team strong enough to contend, so for him to be able to take them as far as he did is impressive. But the failure of the Milwaukee Bucks, his new team, in the first round of the playoffs, did leave a bit of a stain on his record, regardless of the team’s injury concerns.

Lillard and the Bucks will be hoping to redeem themselves next season. The Bucks are one of the better teams in the East. But they will need Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo to deliver in the playoffs if they want any chance to defeat some of the biggest teams in the conference.
