Jeff Benedict, the author of LeBron James’ book ‘LeBron’ which was released recently said Boston Celtics executive Danny Ainge created a “superteam” to beat James.
Speaking to Colin Cowherd on his podcast, “Nobody understood superteams more than Pat Riley and Danny Ainge,” Benedict said. “And Ainge is up running the Celtics, Riley’s down in Miami running the Heat,” said Benedict.
“The whole thing with [Kevin] Garnett and [Ray] Allen and [Paul] Pierce, what’s he doing? He’s trying to beat LeBron. He’s trying to make sure that the Celtics can beat LeBron because he knows how good LeBron is.”

Rolling back the clock, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen linked up with Paul Pierce in 2007, and the following season saw them win their 17th championship. And in both the years they came close to winning another title, they outplayed the Cleveland Cavaliers led by James in the second round of the playoffs.
This finally saw James make his move to the Miami Heat amid scathing ramifications to play alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, forming a super team. The move was a success as they won the titles in 2012 and 2013. His team will also go down as one of top 10 superteams in NBA history
Leading Benedict to opine that Heat head honcho Riley knew the blueprint to creating blockbuster teams. The current Lakers team is by no means a super team, and when they were by adding Russell Westbrook, it was an ill-timed move that never worked.
Charles Barkley Calls Michael Jordan The GOAT Since LeBron James Left Teams To Create Superteams
Not the one to hold back from voicing his opinions, former NBA star Charles Barkley lauded Michael Jordan as the GOAT, and he had his reasons for it. The massive one being Jordan played with the same unit and didn’t have the concept of a super team.
“LeBron is amazing. What he has done in the community is amazing,” Barkley said on Back On The Record With Bob Costas. “LeBron has stacked his teams. Let’s be realistic.”
“To go through the grind and lose – which Michael did,” he added. “When I was watching that documentary [The Last Dance], I was like, ‘Damn, I forgot how much the Pistons beat him up.’ But going through that struggle, that’s what separates sports.”
Jordan won all his six NBA championships with the Bulls, while James won two with the Heat, one with the Cavaliers, and one with the Los Angeles Lakers.
