All across the NBA, teams made moves to get better or build up assets to get better in the future. In Philadelphia, besides waving goodbye to defensive stud Matisse Thybulle, the 76ers didn’t really do a whole lot to improve their situation.

But as Philly fans have been going after the front office for their inactivity, team President Daryl Morey continues to preach patience with the group he’s assembled.

Speaking to the media this week, Morey revealed his thought process with the 76ers and re-affirmed his belief that they have enough to win as-is.

“I think we’ve put ourselves in position to win the title,” he said. “That’s what you want to do when you get to this point. I think we’ve made an upgrade. We’re hoping to continue to make some upgrades and we want to be playing our best basketball going into the playoffs. We have a very tough stretch in March and I think that stretch should help us get to the question earlier, sort of [make us] battle-hardened as we go into the playoffs.”

The 76ers are not favored like the Bucks or Celtics, but they deserve arguably just as much respect. Winners of 7 in their last 10 games, Philly is 3rd in the East with one of the best point differentials in the league.

While Harden, Maxey, and Harris have been huge for the team, Joel Embiid is the guy that has them in a position to win at the highest level.

Joel Embiid Is Climbing Up The MVP Ladder

Embiid is in the middle of another fantastic season, and fans are starting to wonder if it’s finally time to award him with the MVP nod over Jokic this year.

While the Nuggets’ big man still has an edge in the latest MVP poll, Embiid has been building a stronger case as the season has gone on.

“He’s been knocking at the door, two years, came up just short. He’s constantly challenging himself saying, ‘What do I have to do?’ Now he’s leading the league in scoring,” said Julius Erving on Embiid. “I don’t know if it’s gonna end up like that at the end of the year, but he would be my choice as a favorite.”

As the world keeps its eyes on Golden State, Boston, and Milwaukee, the 76ers are sitting comfortably in a position to win it all as a team under the radar.

This season could be their best chance to win it all, and it’s why Morey didn’t want to risk messing up the chemistry his guys have built together.
