Dennis Schroder has had his ups and downs on his return to the Los Angeles Lakers, but the German certainly stepped up at a time of need.

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis missing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Schroder guided the Lakers to the win with 26 points and after the game, stated that he is certain the team will make the playoffs.

“The goal was from the beginning of the season, to make the playoffs,” Schroder said. “And I think everybody in this locker room believes it, I believe it 200% and I mean, we’re going to make the playoffs.”

Schroder suffered an ankle injury early in the game, but soldiered on and led them to victory. Not many would have expected the Lakers to win that game considering their two stars were missing but this team has a different feeling around it after they made those trades before the deadline.

They are a lot better equipped to get positive results in the absence of their two stars, but they still need them both back on the court at the earliest. While Davis’ absence against the Thunder was precautionary, it would appear James might not return to the court this regular season.

The Lakers Are Preparing For The Possibility Of LeBron James Not Playing Again During The Regular Season

It was reported that James doesn’t need foot surgery, which was great news but that doesn’t mean he will be returning to the court in a couple of weeks. Adrian Wojnarowski said that the Lakers are preparing for the possibility that James will miss the rest of the regular season, which would be disastrous.

If they don’t have LeBron the rest of the way, it is going to be really difficult even for this retooled roster to ensure they are in one of the play-in spots. A consolation is that the Lakers’ schedule is fairly easy from here on out, but their margin for error is very low. Having Davis available for every game would certainly help matters but he has given no reason for anyone to believe he will be available night in and night out.
