The Los Angeles Lakers recently lost against the Los Angeles Clippers, getting blown out by their cross-town rivals. The final score was 133-115, and it is clear that the Lakers never stood a chance.

Toward the end of the game, guards Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schroder were involved in an argument that followed a botched inbounds play which resulted in a Kawhi Leonard getting a basket with an and-one.

After the game, Dennis Schroder explained why he was frustrated with Russell Westbrook after that play, claiming that he was mostly mad because he had “a chance” on that play, adding that “it was nothing about” Westbrook.

I was so frustrated about that play because I had a chance. It was a 50/50 ball. Then I fouled Kawhi, and-1. I don’t care if somebody does a mistake, nobody is perfect. So I don’t care. It was nothing about him, and I told him that too.

There is no doubt that disagreements are often common between teammates when crucial plays get botched. That doesn’t mean that their relationship overall is bad, as they are likely angrier at the play itself rather than each other.

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Lakers continue to improve despite their recent loss. They have been a much better team as of late and have a realistic chance of finishing the season as a playoff team.

The Lakers Could Still Trade Russell Westbrook

There have been many rumors that have been mentioned in connection with Russell Westbrook. Notably, a recent report revealed that the San Antonio Spurs are a team that could end up taking on the point guard.

Interestingly, a team insider says that talks between the Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers that involve Russell Westbrook are still alive… both the Lakers and Spurs remain open to the possibility depending on how the next two weeks play out prior to the trade deadline.

The report mentioned that the Lakers are interested in players such as Josh Richardson and Jakob Poeltl, and it is clear that this trade would help the Lakers improve their depth. However, there could be better Russell Westbrook-based deals out there, and it is wise to wait before committing to this deal with the Spurs from a Lakers’ perspective.

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers will continue to make win-now moves ahead of this year’s trade deadline. It is clear that the team is not content with just punting this season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
