The partnership between Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis didn’t end up working out in Dallas, but it seems as though things ended up better after the trade deadline for the Mavericks. They have a 13-5 record since adding Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

Recently, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has lauded the Dallas Mavericks, claiming that they are “fun to watch”. The Dallas Mavericks most recently beat the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and they are the 4th seed in the Western Conference.

This Mavs team sure is fun to watch…

There is no doubt that the Dallas Mavericks could be a dangerous team in the playoffs. Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league, and he is well-known for being someone that can simply take over a game. They have solid defensive players around him as well. Luka Doncic is definitely the key to their success, and Dirk Nowitzki notably claimed that Doncic is already better than him in his prime.

“I would say he’s better than me now than I’ve ever been in my prime. That’s how good he is at 22 already.

Dirk Nowitzki notably won the 2010-11 NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks, and his stamp of approval is certainly a positive thing for the team. Jason Kidd was a member of that team, and he has installed a similar type of attention to defense when coaching this current Dallas Mavericks team.

Hopefully, we see the Dallas Mavericks win a series and make a solid playoff run this season. Luka Doncic has definitely been good in the postseason, but the Dallas Mavericks have been unable to win a series during his tenure yet. Perhaps that will change during these upcoming playoffs, and there’s no doubt that the Dallas Mavericks can compete with any team on any given night.
