Michael Jordan always had a killer instinct that gave him an edge over his opponents. He not only wanted to be better than everyone else, but he was also confident that he already was. Keeping that in mind, there’s no doubt Jordan used to trash-talk his opponents from time to time.

Many players have been victims of those brutal trash talks from Michael Jordan. Ask Reggie Miller, who narrated a pretty amazing story about why trash-talking against ‘Black Jesus’ is always a bad idea.

But sometimes, even when someone doesn’t talk trash to Michael Jordan, he will still find a way to make things personal and dominate. The Bulls legend once did so against former Atlanta Hawks star Dominique Wilkins.

Dominique Wilkins Shared A Story About Michael Jordan That He Will Never Forget

The incident took place in 1987 when the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks locked horns during the regular season. It’s the game when Mike ended up scoring 61 points against Wilkins and the Hawks.

(Starts at 3:06)

“I will never forget this. I never had a player who did this. So, I remember us going to Chicago. Now, we’re in a suit and tie, we are sitting in the locker room, we just walked in the locker room. And I remember Michael Jordan walks into our locker room, suit and tie. I’m like, ‘What hell is he doing in our locker room? Is he coming to the training room? What’s going on?’ So, he walks by me, he walks by Kevin. When he gets to Randy Wittman he said ‘Lace ’em up – it’s going to be a long night.’ I’m like, ‘Did he just come in our locker room?’ I didn’t know what to say, I was shocked. He had 60 that night.”

Wilkins and the Hawks may have won that game, but Michael Jordan certainly left an everlasting impression on them by scoring 61 points. It’s no surprise that even Dominique Wilkins has admitted it was pretty hard playing against Jordan. He was a ferocious player and had an even more ferocious aura around him.
