Donovan Mitchell made his return to Utah earlier this week, trying to get a win with his Cleveland Cavaliers that never arrived. After spending his first five seasons with the Jazz, Mitchell was traded to the Cavs during the summer, ending a run that could have been so much better for him.
Even though a lot was said about his exit from the Jazz, Mitchell remains on great terms with the team, and they even presented him with a video tribute, which made fans stand up and give him an ovation.
While some fans might have had something to say about it, considering the issues Don might have had in Salt Lake City, the player was very welcome in his return to his old house, especially from arguably his biggest fan.
Donovan Mitchell Starred In Wholesome Moment With Young Fan
During his five-year tenure in Utah, Mitchell met a kid that always looked up to him. The child, named Josh, always waited for him outside the Jazz’s arena, but over the summer, their tradition seemingly ended.
However, Josh didn’t forget about it, and neither did Mitchell, who met the kid, embraced him and was recorded on video talking with little Josh, who couldn’t contain his happiness.
My guy Josh has been waiting for me at the arena every game for 5 years!! My first time seeing him since I got traded… it’s moments like these that last forever! Missed you Josh ❤️❤️!! pic.twitter.com/Y0SQphzecP

This was a wholesome moment that shows how loved Mitchell was in Utah. Sure, he was never able to lead the team to the promised land, but in the time he spent there, he made a big impact on the fans.
Mitchell finished that game on a high note, dropping 46 on his old team but eventually losing the match. As he said, it’s moments like this that really show that this is bigger than a game. We hope Spida and Josh can continue this tradition even if the shooting guard is playing on a different team now.
