After signing an extension with the Warriors this summer, Draymond Green did his part to ensure he’ll be staying with Dub Nation for years to come. After all the success he’s enjoyed with the team, it was only right for them to go out and re-sign him to a massive contract in free agency.

Now that he’s set to return to Golden State, and re-take his place alongside Steph and Klay, they can continue their historic run. But for Dray and the Warriors, it’s not just about success on the court that keeps them together. As the 4x champion explained on the ‘Podcast P’ show, his personal relationship with Steph and Klay is a cut above the rest.

“Every time Bob would come walking by, me, Steph, and Klay would be sitting at the same table and he would just walk by and laugh like it’s so funny to me that 10 years later you guys are still sitting together. When he first said it I was just like, ‘hmm?’ But then I started to really process what he was saying and I’m like, ‘I get what he’s saying now.’ Not only are we still together 10 years later, but we actually enjoy spending time with each other. We enjoy each other so much that on every flight, we sit together.”

In today’s player empowerment era, players find any excuse to switch jerseys and it seems like personal relationships come secondary. In just the past few years, we’ve seen the breakup of countless duos from Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to James Harden and Joel Embiid.

The Warriors trio we all know and love nearly broke up as well this offseason before Dray agreed to re-sign with the team.

Will Dray Ever Leave The Warriors?

Anything can happen in the NBA, and the possibility always exists that Draymond will play elsewhere. This summer, that was almost the case when he hit free agency, but he was still keeping his teammates updated through the entire process.

“You know I’m going through free agency right now,” said Dray earlier this month. “And you hear this, and you hear that, and I’m just updating them on my thoughts every step of the way. I update them because I don’t want to get to a point where if I was to leave, A. you can’t control the news anymore. And if I leave, it’s just like, ‘Wham, hey fellas, just FYI, I’m gone.’ Or it can come across at your phone and I didn’t get a chance to tell you.”

Of course, Dray re-signed pretty quickly into free agency, so it seems he was never giving real thought to leaving. And when you think about how much success she’s had with the Warriors and the relationships he has formed along the way, it makes sense why he’d want to return.
