Draymond Green spoke on his podcast about Team USA‘s incredible win against Serbia. Green noted that he was very nervous about Team USA losing, as they were trailing behind Serbia for most of the game. He added that he almost started a group chat with LeBron James and Stephen Curry to try and motivate them to perform better.

“My heart was in my stomach watching this game… I was this close to putting Bron and Steph in a group chat. Like, come on, man. At half time, we was down 11. I was this close to group-texting them.”

“But I was tweeting like a motherf**ker. We couldn’t lose this game because, man, although I didn’t end up on the Olympic team, I remember vividly, winning in 2021, and saying, ‘Yo, the next step is to beat France, in France’. And somehow France, they beat Germany. I know how. Matchups was good for them.”

Green anxiety is understandable. Team USA really struggled to gain control of the game against Serbia. In fact, Serbia led the game against Team USA for almost the entire length, leading for 35 out of the 40 minutes that the game was played. It was only in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter that Team USA retook the lead.

Green was far from the only player afraid of Team USA potentially losing. Former NBA player Evan Turner joked on X about naming his children after Serbian players if Team USA lost the game, but was relieved that he didn’t have to do so.

Some people, especially those in the Serbian camp, believe that the officiating in the fourth quarter was very poor and biased towards Team USA. Serbian head coach Svetislav Pesic spoke about being disrespected by the referees, and Bogdan Bogdanovic slammed the referees for favoring Team USA.

Team USA Must Lock In Before Facing France

Team USA must ignore all the noise about their win over Serbia, both good and bad, and focus on their upcoming gold medal game against France on Saturday. This is by far their toughest and most important game and will determine whether they will extend their streak of gold medals won at the Olympics to five straight.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry have been two of the best players for Team USA so far, with James himself being perhaps the most consistent performer for the team, despite being the oldest player on the squad. James is currently in the lead to be named the Olympics MVP.

In yesterday’s game, James made history, as he put up 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists to help Team USA win the game. His triple-double allowed him to become the first player in history to register multiple triple-doubles at the Olympics and took the lead for the most triple-doubles in Olympic history.

A third gold medal win for LeBron James would tie him with Carmelo Anthony for the second-most successful men’s USA basketball player in Olympic history, right behind Kevin Durant. It would do wonders for James’ already incredible legacy, and cement him as one of the best players of all time, not just in the NBA, but on the world stage.
